Trying to remain postive

We received our fingerprint appt. on Friday of last week.
Our appt. is Feb 16. Not exactly as expedited as I was hoping.:(
Trying to convince Indianapolis Immigration that we are adopting a special needs child and we would like a sooner appt. has been dismissed.
Feeling very frustrated today. Not sure what else I can do.
We also hit a brick wall with our congressman Mike Pence's office, which was unfortunate.
The good news that came out this, is that we received a receipt from immigration stating that all the paperwork they have receieved is correct and as soon as fingerprints are done, we should be good to go. They say it can take up to 3-6 weeks to get approval. But after this waiting period of 3 weeks before the fingerprint appt. I might be extremely convincing that they need to get my approval form asap.:)
I keep reminding myself this is on His time. I need to be patient and pray that we do not hit any more bumps in the road.
This is difficult to do when you know there is a little girl that is waiting in an orphanage for a family and needs medical care and there seems like nothing you can do but wait.
As our faith is tested, we will continue to pray that Olga is well taken care of, is safe and knows in her heart that we are coming as soon as we can.

  1. Oh...I'm sorry it isn't sooner. But now that you have an actual appointment, are there walk-in days you can go to get in sooner?

His time is hard to swallow, I know! I've btdt. Once you snuggle her for the first time, though, time melts away!

  2. The waiting is the hardest part of adoption. It's so hard when you have this beautiful little child you want to get home, all the people at those offices see is stacks and stacks of files of people wanting the same thing.

Remember though there is one person that can do more than anyone no matter how high up they are. Just keep praying that God will somehow move her file to the top of the stack and put it in just the right persons hands.

  3. Are you close to Indianapolis? What if you just walked in and asked to be fingerprinted? When we showed up for our appointment (we're in Columbus, Ohio), we were shocked at how NOT busy they were. They were happy to see us. We were told "DO NOT BE LATE. DO NOT MISS THIS APPOINTMENT" and all that stuff, but I'd bet we could have done the fingerprinting as soon as we got the appointment letter. With the slow economy, there are fewer people getting jobs and adopting (and everything else). So there just aren't as many background checks being done. Bad news for the economy and the state of the nation, but good news for processing time for those of us adopting now.

Our official letter of appointment also had a handwritten date and time next to the official appointment date and time. The appointments were one week apart, at 10 a.m. An enclosed, printed note said that we could choose whichever date worked best for us. Hmmm. I thought these things were set in stone. Makes me wonder if other areas of the country might not be just as flexible.

I bet you'll get it done before the 16th :)! Good luck!

  4. I have been going back and forth about posting this, I don't want to make you feel like you should walk in to try to get fingerprinted, I just want to share with you that we were able to walk into the Indianapolis Office and without even a fingerprint appointment set up, we were able to get fingerprinted. This was in the last week of October. If you have any questions my email is on the sidebar on my blog.

  5. Waiting is so so so so hard and I don't think it gets any easier. Knowing a baby needs you so much and not being able to take a straight path there is frustrating....its a zig zag of a path but you will get there eventually! Good luck:)
